Module 2

i found the entire concept of a newsgroups a bit to hard to understand and i always seemed to get into the inactive ones.

I guess IRC differs from Other forms of chat is that it lacks fancy things like animated smileys and such. it is far more simple which was some of the draw i found in it. Out of all the systems i guess i like IRC best

Module 1

This module was highly interesting! I found out more about some of the types of protocol's that are used for the internets smooth running.

Telnet was a protocol i was completely unaware of and i found it rather difficult to use. I think it is beacause i am not used to text based applications, AKA not using my mouse.

When it came to FTP i have had some familiarity with FTP though this only went as far as having used it once or twice to maintain my practices website my average ping from http://centralops.net/co/ to Curtin is 174.83

Tracerouting the Webct site gave a different result because it is on a seperate server from the main curtin site so it takes a different amount of time to get to the Server

Using trace route from my own computer took longer because the packets had to get out from my computer into one of the hubs then to the curtin.edu.au site so taking longer while from the site i am bassing from somwhere else
